Rūdehen is a town in Tehran Province, east of the capital, in the foothills of the Alborz range. It lies on the main route from Tehran toward Mount Damavand and the Caspian coast, and on the map that road runs straight through it, with the town's streets arranged along and around it.
The terrain is visibly mountainous. Ridges rise on the sides of the valley, roads bend as they climb, and the built-up area spreads where the ground allows. The town's elevated position and cooler air make it a popular retreat for people from Tehran, and gardens and villas extend along the slopes.
