Sarangpore lies in Gujarat's Bharuch district, in the low country south of the Narmada River, close to Ankleshwar. The land is flat, and from above the settlement appears as a cluster of lanes and housing surrounded by a mix of fields, roads and larger industrial plots. The contrast between small village-scale streets and big, regular estate blocks is one of the most striking things about this part of the map.
This corridor of south Gujarat has grown quickly around its industrial estates and the main road and rail links between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Older settlements such as Sarangpore now sit beside newer developments, and the map shows these layers side by side: winding lanes at the core, straighter roads and wide compounds further out.
