Terdāl lies in Bagalkot district in northern Karnataka, on the dry, open country of the Deccan plateau. The Krishna river flows a short distance away. From above, the town has a clear shape: a dense old centre of narrow, crooked lanes, a looser ring of newer streets, and then wide cultivated land in every direction.
The town is known for its Jain heritage. Terdāl has long been associated with an old Jain temple, and that link gives it a significance beyond its size. The historic core that grew around such places is the densest part of the map, where lanes bend and divide in ways that modern planning would never produce.
A Terdāl map poster shows the contrast between that knotted centre and the plain around it. Farm tracks run out toward neighbouring towns in the Rabkavi-Banhatti area, and the Krishna valley lies within reach at the edge of the wider view.
