Indented coastline
Creeks and mangrove inlets cut into the land around the town. The result is an intricate shoreline that looks striking when drawn in fine black lines.

Wete Map Poster & Print
Wete is on the north-west coast of Pemba, the greener and less visited of Zanzibar's two main islands. The coastline here is ragged, full of creeks, small bays and mangrove-lined inlets. On a map, the town sits on a slight rise above the water, and its streets run down to a harbour that serves boats crossing to the mainland and to Unguja.
Pemba is long associated with cloves, and Wete has been one of the island's trading points for the crop. The town has a quieter pace than Stone Town, and its streets combine a simple modern grid with older, narrower lanes. Offshore, small islands and reefs break up the sea.
A Wete map poster works mainly through its coastline. The irregular shore, the harbour and the shape of the inlet give the composition its character, while the streets fill the higher ground. It is a map where land and water share the frame almost equally.

Harbour front
The port area where boats load and unload marks the meeting of town and sea. It is the natural focal point of the map.
Offshore islets
Small islands scattered in the nearby waters add detail to the sea side of the poster and hint at Pemba's reef landscape.

Weteを選ぶ理由
想いが詰まった地図
For people from Pemba, and for travellers who reached Wete by boat, this map holds the shape of the island's coast in a way no photograph can. It is a place many remember for its calm.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint makes the coastline look like a nautical chart.
