Old town lanes
The medieval centre is a dense group of short, bending streets around the market square. It's where the half-timbered houses are, and it's the most detailed part of the print.

Herborn is in the Lahn-Dill district of central Hesse, in a narrow part of the Dill valley between wooded hills. On the map the town follows the river: the railway and main roads run along the valley floor, and the old town climbs the slope beside them in a tight tangle of lanes.
The historic centre is known for its half-timbered houses and its market square with the old town hall. Above it stands Herborn Castle. In 1584 the Nassau counts founded the Hohe Schule here, a Protestant academy that brought scholars to the town from across Europe. Its buildings still stand on the edge of the old centre.
A Herborn map poster shows how medieval streets fitted themselves to the hillside, with short curved lanes that follow the slope instead of a grid. Around this core are newer residential streets, the river and the forested ridges. Together they make a well-balanced print with a clear centre.

River Dill
The Dill runs through the valley below the old town. Roads and the railway run alongside it and draw a clear line through the middle of the map.
Castle hill
The castle stands on higher ground above the centre. On the map the street pattern opens up around the hilltop.

Cur Herborn
Tabula quae aliquid significat
Herborn suits people who studied there, grew up in the Dill valley or remember walks through the old town. A clean map says more about the place than a postcard photo of the half-timbering.
You can add a title, a year or a personal note to the subtitle, and edit the coordinates. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The Paper style goes especially well with the town's historic character.
