Village core
The older settlement keeps a loose, irregular pattern of lanes, clearly different from the straighter streets of newer residential layouts around it.

Jalochi lies next to Baramati in Pune district, Maharashtra, on the dry, open plateau of the Deccan. It is closely tied to the larger town, and on a map the boundary between them is hard to see. Streets extend from the edge of Baramati into what was recently farmland, mixing new housing with older village lanes.
The countryside around here is heavily irrigated and widely used for sugarcane and other crops, so the land beyond the streets is divided into a patchwork of fields, channels and farm tracks. Main roads run through the area in straight lines, and new layouts often follow a planned grid that differs from the looser original settlement.
This makes Jalochi a good example of a place in transition, part village and part suburb. A Jalochi map poster captures that moment: the older core, the newer plotted streets, and the agricultural land still close by on every side.

Plotted extensions
New housing areas are laid out in regular grids and rows of plots, marking where Baramati's growth is spreading into former fields.
Irrigated fields
Channels and field boundaries cover the surrounding land in fine lines, reflecting the irrigated farming that supports this part of the Deccan.
