Quadrilatero Romano
The oldest quarter keeps the tight right-angled layout of the Roman settlement. Its compact block of narrow streets west of Piazza Castello sets the rhythm for the rest of the centre.

Tabula
Few Italian cities show their origins as plainly as Turin. The centre still follows the right-angled plan of the Roman camp of Augusta Taurinorum. Later dukes and kings extended that order outward, block by block, with baroque squares and straight arcaded streets. From above, the result is one of the most regular street patterns in Europe: a dense lattice that only softens where it meets the river and the slopes beyond.
The Po forms the eastern edge of the historic city. It passes the Parco del Valentino and runs under a series of bridges before the ground climbs into the wooded hill. The Dora Riparia cuts across the northern districts, and wide tree-lined corsi divide the grid into large rectangles. On a Turin map poster these lines stack into a calm, almost architectural composition, with dark streets on light ground and the river as a single clean curve.
Turin was the first capital of unified Italy in 1861. Its industrial century left marks that still show on the map, from the long former Fiat works at Lingotto in the south to the rail corridors that feed Porta Nuova and Porta Susa. The Mole Antonelliana, now home to the national cinema museum, stands a few blocks from the Po. The Basilica of Superga looks down on the city from the hill.
The oldest quarter keeps the tight right-angled layout of the Roman settlement. Its compact block of narrow streets west of Piazza Castello sets the rhythm for the rest of the centre.
The river runs along the eastern side of the centre. The Parco del Valentino stretches along its western bank as a long green strip between the grid and the water.
Across the Po, the grid gives way to winding roads that climb toward Superga. Straight lines turn abruptly into looping contours along the eastern edge of the print.

Cur Turin
Turin suits people who like order: students who spent years under its porticoes, football supporters, engineers, and anyone who has walked the length of Via Roma and noticed how everything lines up. The map captures that structure without decoration, so it sits easily in a study, a hallway or an office.
You can set your own title, subtitle and coordinates line to add a neighbourhood, a date or a name. Then choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits the grid especially well. Download the HD files for $9, or order a matte print, framed if you like.
