The map
Aluva Map Poster & Print
Aluva lies on the Periyar, Kerala's longest river, north of Kochi. The river is the defining feature of the map: it splits into branches around the town, and its broad channels, sandbanks and islands take up a large share of the frame. Bridges carry the main road and the railway across the water, and the streets spread out along both banks among dense greenery.
The Manappuram, a sandbank on the Periyar, hosts the Aluva Sivarathri festival each year, when large crowds gather on the river bank. The town was long a summer retreat, and Aluva Palace stands on the riverside. Today Aluva is part of the wider Kochi urban area, and Cochin International Airport lies a short distance to the northeast.
An Aluva map poster is really a portrait of a river town. The curves of the Periyar, the lines of the bridges and the close web of streets and lanes all come through clearly in black and white.

Bridges and railway
Road and rail bridges cross the river at Aluva. Their straight lines contrast with the curving riverbanks and show how the town links north and south Kerala.
Manappuram sandbank
The Manappuram, a sandbank on the Periyar, is the setting for the annual Sivarathri festival. It appears as a pale landmark within the river's broad channel.

Why Aluva
A map that means something
People hang an Aluva map for the river as much as for the streets. For those from Aluva or the Kochi area, the curve of the Periyar and its bridges are the familiar shapes of home, and they hold their appeal far from Kerala.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line with a name, a date or a short phrase. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The $9 digital files come in six print sizes, and a printed poster with an optional wooden frame is also available.
