Tagus river loops
The Tagus winds through the town and past the palace and gardens in wide curves. On the poster it is the main natural line, softening the strict geometry around it.

The map
Aranjuez Map Poster & Print
Aranjuez lies south of Madrid, where the Tagus and Jarama rivers meet in a green valley. From above it looks unlike most Spanish towns. A large royal palace sits beside the river, formal gardens spread along the water, and the town itself follows an eighteenth-century plan of straight streets and wide squares.
For centuries it served as a spring residence for the Spanish court. In 2001 the Aranjuez Cultural Landscape was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in recognition of the way palace, gardens, town and farmland were designed together. The town is also known worldwide through Joaquín Rodrigo's guitar concerto, the Concierto de Aranjuez.
An Aranjuez map poster brings out that designed quality. The curving river contrasts with the ruler-straight avenues and tree-lined roads that radiate across the valley, and the gardens form broad, open shapes beside the palace. It is one of the most distinctive small-town layouts in Spain and makes an elegant print in any style.

Radiating avenues
Long, straight, tree-lined roads leave the palace area and cross the valley in several directions. They give the map its strongest pattern, a planned fan of lines.
Royal gardens
The Jardín del Príncipe and the Jardín de la Isla stretch along the river as large open areas with formal paths. They read clearly as green space in contrast to the town's blocks.

Why Aranjuez
A map that means something
Aranjuez attracts people who love gardens, music, architecture and planned cities. A map of its river, palace and avenues is both a souvenir and a piece of design history that looks good on any wall.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a visit date or a line from the concierto. Choose from five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint suits the town's geometric plan particularly well.
