The map
Arcos Map Poster & Print
Arcos lies in the central-west of Minas Gerais, in a landscape of rolling hills and farmland. From above, the town has a fairly regular street grid that spreads over gentle slopes. Roads run out towards neighbouring towns and the surrounding countryside.
The municipality is known for its limestone. Quarrying and the production of lime and cement are central to the local economy, and the karst landscape around the town includes caves. On the map, the quarries show as areas where the regular pattern of fields and roads suddenly stops.
An Arcos map poster shows a working inland town in clear lines. The central grid is dense and orderly, the neighbourhoods on the edges are more open, and the roads leading out give the composition direction. Around it, the countryside and quarry areas leave plenty of white space, so the town stands out clearly in the middle of the sheet.

Limestone quarries
Around the town, quarry areas interrupt the countryside. They show as irregular gaps in the network of roads and fields.
Outlying roads
Regional roads leave town in several directions across the hills. Their gentle curves give the edges of the poster movement.
