Salt pans
The Saline di Cervia spread inland in flat, geometric basins. On the poster they create an unusual pattern of rectangles and water, unlike any street grid.

The map
Cervia Map Poster & Print
Cervia is on the Adriatic coast of Emilia-Romagna, south of Ravenna. For centuries it was defined by salt, and the Saline di Cervia salt pans still lie just inland. The present town centre was built in the eighteenth century, when the old town was moved closer to the sea, so it has an unusually regular plan.
The map shows this clearly. The historic centre is a compact square with a regular grid of streets. A canal links the salt pans to the harbour and the sea. To the north, Milano Marittima was laid out as a garden city among the pine trees, with a softer, more curved street pattern.
A Cervia map poster brings together water, geometry and a coastline: the planned square, the canal, the geometric pans and the long, straight beach. There are very few maps with such a clear link between a town and its work.

Planned centre
The eighteenth-century town is laid out as a compact square with regular streets. It reads as a small, perfectly ordered block near the coast.
Canal and coast
A canal runs from the salt pans to the sea, lined by the old port. The long, straight beach frames the whole map along the Adriatic.
