Chinahsen, also written Chinaksen, is a town in the Somali Region of eastern Ethiopia, in the upland country between Harar and Jijiga. On a map it appears as a modest cluster of streets. Around it lies a broad, lightly marked landscape of grazing land, fields and seasonal watercourses, typical of this part of the Horn of Africa.
The layout is informal and open. A few longer roads carry traffic in and out of town. Between them, the residential areas form an irregular patchwork of short streets and compounds rather than a planned grid.
