Ciudad General Escobedo sits directly north of Monterrey, part of the same metropolitan area. On a map it reads as a broad, low sprawl: residential blocks in tight rectangular patterns, long arterial roads running toward the city core, and large pale footprints where factories and warehouses have been built. There is little in the way of a single old centre. The shape comes from steady growth outward.

The municipality is named after Mariano Escobedo, the nineteenth-century general from Nuevo León who is remembered for the siege of Querétaro in 1867. Its growth came much later, as Monterrey's industry pushed outward and needed housing and land. You can see that history in the street pattern. Planned subdivisions sit beside one another, each with its own internal logic of cul-de-sacs, loops and straight rows.

A Ciudad General Escobedo map poster shows this in fine black lines: dense residential texture broken by highways and wide blank industrial parcels. It is not a postcard city. The drawing is honest about how a modern northern Mexican municipality actually grows, one subdivision at a time, and the result is an intricate, almost textile-like pattern once it is reduced to black and white.
