Rio Grande border
The river forms the northern edge of the city and the boundary with the United States. Its thin, winding line gives the poster its defining frame.

The map
Ciudad Juárez Map Poster & Print
Ciudad Juárez sits on the southern bank of the Rio Grande, known in Mexico as the Río Bravo, directly across from El Paso, Texas. Together the two cities form one of the largest binational urban areas in the world. On the map, the river and the border trace a clear edge along the north, crossed by several international bridges linking the two downtowns.
The historic centre grew around the Mission of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, founded in the seventeenth century. From there the city spread south and east across the flat desert in wide avenues and large industrial parks, many built for the manufacturing plants known as maquiladoras. To the west, the Sierra de Juárez rises as a rugged barrier.
A Ciudad Juárez map poster shows the striking geography of a border city: a dense older core close to the river, a broad grid of later districts, and the empty space of mountains and desert at the edges. It is a map about connection as much as division, drawn in clear lines.

International bridges
Several bridges cross the river between Juárez and El Paso, marking the points where two street networks meet across the border.
Sierra de Juárez
A rocky range west of the city, where the streets stop abruptly. On the map it appears as an open space set against the dense urban grid.

Why Ciudad Juárez
A map that means something
Many families have lives on both sides of the river, and many people from Juárez have moved elsewhere in Mexico or the United States. A map poster keeps the city's shape in view, from a childhood neighbourhood to the crossing used every day.
Add a title, subtitle and meaningful date, and choose one of five styles; Sand echoes the colours of the Chihuahuan desert. The $9 digital files include six print sizes as 300 DPI PNG and PDF, or you can order a finished print with an optional wooden frame.
