The map
Gilbert Map Poster & Print
Gilbert lies in the southeast of the Phoenix metropolitan area, on the flat floor of the Salt River Valley. Its map is shaped by the American survey grid: major roads run one mile apart, dividing the town into square sections, and within each section residential streets curl into loops, crescents and cul-de-sacs. The result is a distinctive pattern of rigid frames filled with soft curves.
Irrigation canals inherited from the town's agricultural past run along section lines and in long diagonal stretches, giving the map thin, clean water lines through the suburbs. Loop 202, the Santan Freeway, sweeps through the south of the town. Parks, golf courses and retention basins appear as scattered open shapes, among them the Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch, a wetland park of ponds and trails.
Gilbert was once known as the hay shipping capital of the world, and its small Heritage District still marks the original farm town beside the old railway. Since the late twentieth century it has grown into one of the largest incorporated towns in the United States. A Gilbert map poster captures that change, from farmland to suburb, in a single graphic image.

Irrigation canals
Canals from the area's farming past cross the town in long straight lines, including diagonal stretches, adding thin threads of water to the dense suburban pattern.
Riparian Preserve
The wetland park at Water Ranch appears as a cluster of irregular ponds amid the suburbs, a rare organic shape in a town otherwise defined by straight lines.

Why Gilbert
A map that means something
Gilbert is a place where many families settled, bought a first house or raised children. Its mix of strict grid and looping streets makes a surprisingly elegant print, and a map centred on a particular neighbourhood can mark exactly where that chapter of life happened.
Personalise the title and subtitle with a family name or a move-in date, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose from five styles, including Paper and Sand, which sit well with desert tones. HD files cost $9, and printed posters ship on matte paper with an optional frame.
