Gualeguay Map Poster & Print
Gualeguay lies in the southern part of Entre Ríos, in the flat, well-watered country between the Paraná and Uruguay rivers. The town is built on the classic Argentine grid of square blocks, laid out around a central plaza, and it sits beside the Gualeguay River, which winds past its edge on the way south toward the Paraná delta.
Founded in the late eighteenth century, when settlements were being organised across Entre Ríos, Gualeguay is one of the older towns in the province. The town is also known across Argentina for its summer carnival, one of the traditional carnivals of Entre Ríos, when parades fill the streets.
