The map
Haiyang Map Poster & Print
Haiyang is the seat of Xiuning County, in the Huangshan area of southern Anhui. This is hill country, with forested ridges and narrow valleys where rivers wind between terraced slopes. On a map the town appears as a concentrated cluster of streets beside the river. The surrounding land is marked by roads that follow the valleys rather than cutting across the hills.
Xiuning belongs to the old Huizhou cultural region, known for its merchants, scholars and distinctive whitewashed architecture. The county is also home to Qiyun Mountain, one of the traditional sacred mountains of Taoism, which lies to the west of the town. The wider area has long been associated with learning, and the county is often described as a place that produced many top scholars in the imperial examinations.
A Haiyang map poster captures a town shaped by its terrain. Streets gather along the flat land by the water, bridges link the banks, and roads thin out as they climb into the valleys. The result is an image of close-set urban lines held inside a broad, open landscape.

Bridges across
Several crossings link the two banks. In a black-and-white print they appear as short, firm strokes against the flowing line of the river.
Roads into the hills
Outside the centre, roads follow valleys between the Huangshan hills, branching like veins towards villages, tea slopes and the direction of Qiyun Mountain.
