The hairpin climb
The access road from the valley folds into a stack of tight bends before it reaches the station. The pattern stays clear even at small print sizes, and any cyclist will recognise it.

The map
Hautacam Map Poster & Print
Hautacam sits on the eastern side of the Argelès-Gazost valley in the Hautes-Pyrénées, a short drive from Lourdes. From above it is a study in switchbacks. A single mountain road leaves the valley floor, folds back on itself again and again, and ends at a modest ski station on grassy, rounded slopes. Below, the Gave de Pau runs north through the valley, with a line of villages along its banks.
Most people know the name from cycling rather than skiing. The climb to Hautacam has been used several times as a summit finish in the Tour de France, and its steady gradient has decided more than one race. In winter the same slopes hold a small, family-scale area for skiing and snowshoeing, with long views over the valley below and the ridges that close it in.
A Hautacam map poster keeps things spare: the road, the river, the scattered hamlets and the edge of the station. There is no dense street grid to fill the frame, so the composition relies on line and empty space, which suits black and white printing particularly well. It makes a quiet keepsake of a climb you rode, watched from the roadside or skied.

Gave de Pau
The river runs north along the valley floor below Hautacam toward Lourdes. It gives the lower part of the map a strong, continuous line that anchors the looping road above.
Valley villages
Small settlements around Argelès-Gazost cluster along the valley road and river. Their compact street patterns contrast with the sparse, open slopes that rise toward the ski area.

Why Hautacam
A map that means something
For many owners this is a cycling poster first: a reminder of a Tour stage watched from the roadside, or of a personal ascent finally completed. Put the date of the climb in the title or subtitle, and edit the coordinates line if you want it to mark the summit.
Choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The $9 digital download includes six print sizes, each as a 300 DPI PNG and a print-ready PDF. You can also order a matte print, with an optional wooden frame, from partners in over 30 countries.
