Hohen Neuendorf lies immediately north of Berlin, in the Oberhavel district of Brandenburg, and today includes the neighbouring villages of Borgsdorf, Bergfelde and Stolpe. On a map it is mostly residential: villa colonies and garden suburbs with curving streets and large plots, set among pine and mixed forest that separates each part of town from the others.
For nearly three decades the Berlin Wall ran along the town's southern boundary. The border strip is now a path and green corridor, and one of the former border watchtowers still stands nearby.
