Santa Catalina hill
The ridge above the city holds the castle and leaves a large, mostly empty space on the map, with roads climbing toward it in tight switchbacks.

The map
Jaén Map Poster & Print
Jaén sits on the slopes of a mountain in northern Andalusia, and from above the city seems to climb uphill toward the castle of Santa Catalina on the ridge above. The old town fills the lower slopes with narrow, winding streets, while newer districts spread out on the flatter ground below in straighter blocks. Above it all, the steep hillside remains largely empty on the map.
The cathedral, designed largely by the Renaissance architect Andrés de Vandelvira, stands at the heart of the old town, a large rectangular footprint surrounded by tight lanes. Jaén also has well-preserved Arab baths beneath a later palace, among the largest of their kind in Spain.
The province of Jaén is one of the world's largest producers of olive oil, and the land around the city is covered with olive groves in regular rows. On a Jaén map poster, the city's dense streets are framed by this open countryside and the hill, a clear picture of a place defined by slope and cultivation.

Old town lanes
Narrow, winding streets fill the lower slopes around the cathedral, a dense and irregular pattern that follows the contours of the hillside.
Newer lower districts
Below the old town, straighter streets and larger blocks spread across flatter ground, showing how the city grew downhill over time.

Why Jaén
A map that means something
Jaén is a city of steep streets, olive oil and quiet evenings under the castle, and a map captures its shape better than a photograph can. It suits kitchens, studies and anyone with family roots in Andalusia.
Personalise the title and subtitle and edit the coordinates line to mark a home, a wedding or a year abroad. Choose from five styles: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, which suits the warm tones of southern Spain.
