The circular moat
The old town is enclosed by a nearly round moat, an unusual shape for a Chinese walled town, and on the poster it frames the historic centre like a line drawn with a compass.

Jiading Map Poster & Print
Jiading is a district on the northwestern edge of Shanghai, and on a map it reads as two layers at once. At its core sits an old walled town whose outline is almost circular, traced by a surviving moat. Canals cross inside that ring and meet near the centre, a pattern that has held for centuries while the modern district spread outward in broad blocks, rail lines and expressway ramps.
The historic core keeps some of the most intact landmarks in the Shanghai area. The Confucian Temple, founded in the Song dynasty, sits beside the quiet Huilongtan pond, and the slim Fahua Pagoda rises over the canal near the old centre. Further south lies Nanxiang, the town widely credited with the soup dumplings known as xiaolongbao, and its classical garden, Guyi Yuan.
Jiading is also Shanghai's car district. Anting hosts large automotive plants and the Shanghai International Circuit, whose looping track shows clearly at larger scales. A Jiading map poster brings these pieces together: the round moat, the straight lines of the canals, the curves of the circuit and the dense suburban blocks between them, drawn in fine black lines on a light ground.

Canals in a cross
Waterways meet inside the ring and divide the old town into quarters, a layout still visible in the street pattern, which follows the water rather than a planned grid.
Anting's race circuit
The Shanghai International Circuit, long the home of the Chinese Grand Prix, appears as a tight, looping outline among the industrial blocks and roads of Anting.

Why Jiading
A map that means something
People who grew up in Jiading, studied there or commuted to its plants often want a map that shows both sides of it: the old ring town and the new district. It suits a hallway, a study or a gift for someone who has moved away from Shanghai.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a family name or a moving date, and choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The files come in six print sizes, or you can order a printed poster.
