Inland Sea shoreline
The coast forms the northern edge of the town. Harbour basins and reclaimed land give it a sharp, geometric outline.

The map
Kawanoechō Map Poster & Print
Kawanoechō is on the northern coast of Shikoku, in Ehime Prefecture. It was formerly the city of Kawanoe, and in 2004 it merged with neighbouring towns to form Shikokuchūō. On the map a narrow coastal strip holds most of the streets, with the Seto Inland Sea on one side and mountains rising steeply on the other.
The area is known across Japan for paper production. Mills and factories line the coast and industrial land extends along the shore, which gives the waterfront a distinctly industrial outline. A small hill in the town carries a reconstructed castle keep that overlooks the harbour and the sea.
A Kawanoechō map poster captures this tight fit between land and water. The streets are packed into the level ground. The harbour and reclaimed industrial areas give the shoreline a sharp, angular edge. Behind them the roads thin out as they climb into the hills, and the composition feels layered and compact.
