The map
Kevelaer Map Poster & Print
Kevelaer lies on the Lower Rhine plain in the far west of North Rhine-Westphalia, a short distance from the Netherlands. The land is flat and open, so on a map the town reads as a tidy cluster of streets surrounded by farmland, small country roads and scattered farmsteads, with very little terrain to interrupt the even pattern of lines.
Since the seventeenth century Kevelaer has been one of the most important Marian pilgrimage sites in north-western Europe. The Chapel of Grace and the neighbouring basilica stand at the heart of the old centre, and the streets around them form a dense, walkable core shaped by processions and visitors, easy to recognise even at poster scale.
A Kevelaer map poster shows that concentric logic clearly: the pilgrimage centre, the ring of residential streets beyond it, then the calm geometry of Lower Rhine fields. It is a quiet map for a quiet town, and it holds meaning for pilgrims, locals and families from the surrounding villages alike.

Lower Rhine plain
Flat farmland surrounds the town on every side, so field boundaries and country roads create a fine, even texture that frames the denser streets in the middle.
Near the border
Kevelaer sits close to the Dutch frontier, and a wider crop of the map shows how closely the German and Dutch road networks meet across this open landscape.
