The map
Kovrov Map Poster & Print
Kovrov stands on the Klyazma River in Vladimir Oblast, east of Moscow. On the map, the river bends along the town's northern edge, with a wide floodplain of meadows and old channels on the far side. The town sits on the higher bank, and its streets run in fairly regular blocks away from the water.
Kovrov is closely associated with arms design and manufacturing. Vasily Degtyaryov, one of the Soviet Union's best-known small-arms designers, worked here, and the large plant that bears his name remains a major employer. The railway between Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod runs through town, and it helped shape its industrial growth.
A Kovrov map poster shows a town organised around three lines: the river, the railway and the main avenues. The dense grid of blocks contrasts with the wide, loose floodplain across the Klyazma. In monochrome, the water meadows and oxbows form a soft, detailed field beside the orderly town.

Railway corridor
The main line from Moscow toward Nizhny Novgorod crosses the town, with tracks and yards forming a long band that divides districts and ties together factories.
Regular town blocks
Most of the town is laid out in rectangular blocks of apartment buildings and houses, giving the poster an ordered, even texture.
