The map
Kukichūō Map Poster & Print
Kukichūō is the centre of Kuki, a city in northeastern Saitama on the wide, flat Kanto plain north of Tokyo. From above, the area is a mix of dense residential streets, rail corridors and open rice fields, with no hills to interrupt the level ground. Rivers and irrigation channels cross the landscape in long lines, and the urban grain loosens quickly into farmland at the edges.
The streets around the main station form a compact, closely built core, with shops and housing packed into small irregular blocks typical of Japanese towns. Beyond that, suburban neighbourhoods spread in a looser pattern, broken by fields, parks and industrial sites.
