The map
Lamía Map Poster & Print
Lamía is the capital of Phthiotis in Central Greece. It rises on the lower slopes of a hill crowned by a medieval castle, which stands on ancient foundations and overlooks the town. Below lies the broad Spercheios valley, and beyond it is the Malian Gulf. The pass of Thermopylae, famous for the battle of 480 BC, is only a short distance to the southeast.
On a map, Lamía combines a central core with irregular streets climbing towards the castle and a set of squares that act as the town's meeting points. Newer districts spread downhill onto flatter ground. Major roads to Athens and Thessaly pass nearby, linking the town to the national route network.
A Lamía map poster conveys a town anchored by its hill. In monochrome, the tighter streets around the castle and the more open pattern on the plain below give a clear sense of elevation. It suits anyone from Phthiotis, and anyone interested in the landscape around Thermopylae.

Central squares
Lamía's centre is organised around several public squares, open spaces in the street network where much of the town's social life takes place.
Spercheios plain
South of town, the flat Spercheios valley stretches towards the Malian Gulf, and the street grid thins out into farmland and roads across the plain.

Why Lamía
A map that means something
For Greeks from Phthiotis, Lamía is the town of school years, army service or family visits. A map with the castle hill at its centre is a calm, recognisable piece that brings those memories into the home.
