The map
Lviv Map Poster & Print
Lviv's historic centre, listed by UNESCO, forms a compact knot of streets around Rynok Square, where the town hall stands at the centre. From above, the old town is dense and irregular, bounded by wider streets and boulevards that trace former fortifications, with the city spreading beyond in layers of Austro-Hungarian and later districts.
Beneath Svobody Avenue flows the Poltva River, covered over in the nineteenth century. The Opera House closes the avenue at one end. To the northeast, the green slopes of the High Castle hill overlook the city, and the Lychakiv Cemetery lies to the east, its paths winding among trees.
A Lviv map poster brings out these layers: the medieval core, the broad avenues, the parks and hills. The city's street pattern is a record of centuries of growth, and it looks especially good in fine black-and-white linework.

Svobody Avenue
This broad avenue follows the course of the buried Poltva River, ending at the Opera House and forming a strong axis on the map.
High Castle hill
The wooded hill northeast of the centre appears as a green space among the streets, marking one of the highest points of the city.
