The map
Mateur Map Poster & Print
Mateur lies in the Bizerte governorate of northern Tunisia, on a broad agricultural plain southwest of Lake Ichkeul. From above, the town has a compact centre of close-set streets, and newer quarters extend along the main roads. Around it spreads a patchwork of fields, with hills rising in the distance and the wide water of the lake to the north.
The town has long been an agricultural and market centre for the surrounding plain, and it sits on road and rail routes linking Bizerte with the interior. Nearby Ichkeul National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is known as one of the most important wintering grounds for migratory birds in the Mediterranean.
A Mateur map poster sets a dense town centre against the open plain. Roads and the railway lead away across the frame, and the land around them is calm and uncluttered. The result is a balanced design that shows a market town at the heart of its farmland.

Roads and railway
Main roads and the rail line run out from the town toward Bizerte and the interior. They draw long, straight lines across the plain.
Toward Ichkeul
North of the town the land opens toward Lake Ichkeul. On a wider frame its broad water and marshes appear as large, calm shapes.
