Nova Pazova Map Poster & Print
Nova Pazova is a town in the Srem district of Vojvodina, in northern Serbia, about halfway between Belgrade and Novi Sad. It was founded in the late eighteenth century by German settlers, who called it Neu-Pasua. The name distinguished it from the older nearby village of Stara Pazova.
The map shows its planned origin very clearly. Straight streets meet at right angles and form a regular grid of long blocks, a layout typical of settlements founded on the Pannonian plain during that period. The land around it is completely flat, divided into long, narrow fields. The railway and the motorway between Belgrade and Novi Sad pass close by as strong parallel lines.
