Shatrunjaya hill
The temple hill rises southwest of the town, and its summit enclosures and approach paths create a distinct cluster set apart from the streets below.

The map
Pālitāna Map Poster & Print
Pālitāna lies in the Bhavnagar district of Gujarat, on the Saurashtra peninsula. The town sits at the base of Shatrunjaya hill, and the map reflects that relationship: a compact grid of streets and lanes on the plain, with the route to the hill leaving the town and rising toward the temple complex on its summit.
Shatrunjaya is among the most sacred sites in Jainism, crowned by hundreds of temples reached by a long stepped path that pilgrims climb on foot. The town below grew to serve those visitors, and its dharamshalas, markets and residential lanes cluster toward the approach to the hill.
A Pālitāna map poster shows a place that is organised by a destination. The town's streets are dense and intricate, and the hill beyond offers a contrasting pattern of paths and enclosures. It makes a thoughtful print for anyone who has made the climb or hopes to.

Pilgrim approach
The road from the town to the foot of the hill links the two halves of the map, lined with the lodgings and shops that serve visitors.
Old town lanes
The centre is a tight, irregular weave of narrow streets, a pattern typical of old Gujarati towns that reads beautifully in fine black line.
