The map

Pāsārgād county lies in the uplands of Fars Province, north of Shiraz. Its main town sits on a broad, flat plain ringed by bare mountains. A short distance away are the ruins of Pasargadae, the capital founded by Cyrus the Great in the sixth century BC and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
