The map
Rajapolah Map Poster & Print
Rajapolah is a town in Tasikmalaya Regency, in the uplands of eastern West Java. Its built-up area stretches along the main road that links Tasikmalaya with the route toward Bandung. As a result the map is elongated, with houses and shops lining the road and smaller lanes running off into the surrounding fields. Rice paddies, small rivers and villages fill the rest of the landscape.
The town is widely known for its handicrafts. Local workshops make woven goods from pandan, mendong grass and bamboo, including bags, mats and baskets, and craft shops line the main road. The volcanic uplands around Tasikmalaya, with Mount Galunggung to the west, give the region its fertile soil and the rolling terrain visible on the map.
A Rajapolah map poster captures a roadside town in the Javanese countryside: a strong linear spine, a fringe of kampung lanes and a surrounding pattern of paddies and streams. In black and white, the fine texture of fields and paths looks almost woven itself, an apt image for a town known for weaving.

Craft shops
Shops and workshops selling woven pandan, mendong and bamboo goods cluster along the road. This is the commercial heart of the town and its best-known feature.
Rice fields
Around the town, paddy fields and small streams create a dense, irregular mosaic, stepped where the land slopes toward the surrounding hills.
