The map
Remedios Map Poster & Print
Remedios, in Villa Clara province near Cuba's north coast, is one of the oldest towns founded by the Spanish on the island. From above, the colonial centre is compact and tightly organised. Streets meet at the main plaza, where the historic churches stand, and the blocks around it keep the scale of an early settlement.
The town is best known for its parrandas, a Christmas season festival where rival neighbourhoods compete with elaborate floats, lights and fireworks. The parrandas of central Cuba are recognised on UNESCO's list of intangible cultural heritage. On the map, those rival neighbourhoods are the blocks that fan out from the centre.
A Remedios map poster focuses on that historic core. In monochrome, the plaza stands out as a clear open space at the heart of the grid. Around it, the streets form a fine, slightly irregular pattern that gradually loosens toward the surrounding farmland.

Colonial blocks
Streets form close, slightly irregular blocks that reflect the town's early origins. On paper, they create a fine, dense texture.
Parranda neighbourhoods
The districts that compete during the parrandas spread out from the centre. For locals, their boundaries are easy to trace on the map.
