Coastal strip
The city is compressed between mountains and sea, giving the map a long, narrow shape with the densest streets pressed against the shoreline.

The map
Rize Map Poster & Print
Rize is defined by a lack of space. The Pontic Mountains rise almost directly behind the shore, so the city stretches along a thin coastal strip, with streets climbing up the valleys wherever the slopes allow. On a map this produces a long, ribbon-like shape, with dense blocks near the water and roads winding uphill in tight bends.
The coastal highway runs along the edge of the sea, sometimes on reclaimed land, separating the city from the Black Sea shoreline. Just east of town, the Rize–Artvin Airport was built on a platform reclaimed from the sea, one of the more unusual shapes you will find on any Rize map poster.
The hillsides above the city are covered in tea gardens, and Rize is known across Turkey as the centre of the country's tea production. None of that green appears on a monochrome print, but the pattern of small roads threading through the slopes hints at it: this is a landscape worked by hand, terrace by terrace.

Reclaimed airport
The Rize–Artvin Airport sits on land reclaimed from the Black Sea, a straight-edged runway platform that stands out clearly against the curving coast.
Hillside roads
Above the centre, roads switchback up steep slopes towards tea gardens and villages, drawing tight, looping lines across the upper half of the map.

Why Rize
A map that means something
Rize is a place people are proud of, whether they grew up among the tea gardens or left for Istanbul or Germany decades ago. Its map is instantly recognisable to anyone from the Black Sea coast: sea at the bottom, mountains at the top, a city holding on between.
You can write your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, and pick one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Noir makes the dark sea and the thin city line especially striking.
