The map

Salāya lies on the southern shore of the Gulf of Kutch in Gujarat, in Devbhumi Dwarka district, not far from Khambhalia and Jamnagar. The coast here is low and irregular, with tidal creeks and mudflats reaching into the land. Salāya has long been known for its seafaring community and for building traditional wooden sailing vessels, which carried cargo across the Arabian Sea for generations.
