Valley-floor town
The built-up area gathers where the land is flattest, so the town forms a long, dense shape following the valley's line.

The map
Shuijiang Map Poster & Print
Shuijiang lies in the Chongqing municipality, in the mountainous southeast of the Sichuan Basin rim. The terrain decides everything here. Steep hills and narrow valleys leave little flat land, so the town grows along the valley floor and then climbs the slopes wherever it can.
That shows clearly on a map. Streets tend to run along contour lines instead of in a grid, main roads follow the valleys, and connecting lanes zigzag up the hillsides. Blank space on the poster often means steep ground or forest rather than empty land. This mix of dense town and open hills is typical of settlements in this part of Chongqing.
A Shuijiang map poster suits people with roots in the town or ties to its local industries and schools. The monochrome drawing keeps the contrast between the compact built-up valley and the winding routes out into the hills.

Contour streets
Streets bend with the hillsides instead of meeting at right angles, a pattern shaped by one of China's hilliest regions.
Mountain approaches
Roads leave the town in winding loops and switchbacks, and on the poster they read as fine curling lines at the edges.
