Colliery settlements
Housing is grouped in clusters tied to mines rather than a single central grid. On the map, these form a scattered pattern of dense patches.

The map
Sijua Map Poster & Print
Sijua lies in the Dhanbad district of Jharkhand, within the Jharia coalfield, one of India's most important coal-producing areas. From above, the map shows a landscape shaped by mining: clusters of housing, colliery roads and rail lines interspersed with open areas where the ground has been worked.
The town is part of a dense network of mining settlements around Dhanbad, and its layout reflects that history. Rather than a single centre, there are several nuclei connected by roads that curve around mine sites and railway tracks, giving the area a fragmented, patchwork character.
A Sijua map poster records an industrial landscape that few people outside the region ever see in detail. In black and white, the rail lines provide sharp structure, the settlements form irregular clusters and the open ground between them becomes a meaningful part of the design.

Rail lines
Railway tracks cross the area to move coal from the field. They are the straightest, most structured lines in the composition.
Worked ground
Open areas between settlements mark land shaped by mining. They give the poster its distinctive broken rhythm.

Why Sijua
A map that means something
For families whose history is tied to the Jharia coalfield, a Sijua poster is a way to honour a place of work and home. Its patchwork shape makes a striking, unconventional print.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with the name of a colliery or a year. Choose one of five styles. HD files cost $9 with no watermark, and printed matte posters are available with an optional frame.
