The map

Sint-Niklaas is the main town of the Waasland, the flat region between Antwerp and Ghent. Its map has one feature you notice straight away: the Grote Markt, often described as the largest market square in Belgium, sits open at the centre as a broad, empty shape among the dense blocks.
