The map
Tienen Map Poster & Print
Tienen, known in French as Tirlemont, lies in the eastern part of Flemish Brabant, in gently rolling farmland between Leuven and Sint-Truiden. On the map, the old town is easy to find: streets converge on a very large market square, and a ring of boulevards traces the line of the former town walls.
The town is known across Belgium as the sugar city. Its large sugar refinery, fed by the sugar beet fields that surround it, has shaped both the economy and the skyline. Near the Grote Markt stands the Church of Our Lady ten Poel, a Gothic landmark whose outline dominates the square.
A Tienen map poster brings out this clear, readable structure. The vast market square becomes a pale open shape in the middle of the print, the ring road holds the old centre together, and railway tracks and the Gete valley add their own lines to the east and north. It is a neat, well-composed small-city map.

Boulevard ring
A ring of streets follows the line of the old fortifications, enclosing the historic centre in a rounded shape that frames the whole composition.
Sugar and rail
The refinery area and railway lines on the edge of town add longer, industrial shapes, reflecting Tienen's reputation as Belgium's sugar city.
