The map
Tiruchanur Map Poster & Print
Tiruchanur lies just outside Tirupati in the Chittoor region of Andhra Pradesh, on the plain below the Tirumala hills. Its best-known landmark is the Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple, dedicated to the consort of Lord Venkateswara. Many pilgrims who come to the region to visit Tirumala stop here as well.
On a map, the town's layout reflects the temple. Streets close to the shrine run in the rectangular pattern typical of South Indian temple towns, lined with lodges, shops and houses. Farther out, newer residential areas and roads link Tiruchanur to the fast-growing city of Tirupati next door.
A Tiruchanur map poster shows how a sacred centre shapes the streets around it. The temple precinct and its tank anchor the composition. The town spreads out from there, and the edges blur into Tirupati's suburbs. The line drawing sits easily in a prayer room, a living room or a study.
