Três Pontas lies in the south of Minas Gerais, in rolling country covered with coffee plantations. The town takes its name from the Serra de Três Pontas, a ridge with three distinct summits that rises nearby. Coffee has shaped the town's economy for generations, and the surrounding municipality is among the notable producers in a region known for its beans.
