The map
Třinec Map Poster & Print
Třinec lies in the far east of the Czech Republic, close to the Polish border, in the valley of the Olza river beneath the Silesian Beskids. Its map is shaped by the valley: the river runs through the middle, the railway follows it, and the town stretches along both banks with the hills pressing in from the east.
The dominant feature is the Třinec Ironworks, one of the largest steel plants in the country, whose enormous footprint of halls, rail sidings and yards occupies much of the valley floor. The town is also known for its ice hockey club, HC Oceláři Třinec, named after the steelworkers, and for its Polish-speaking minority.
A Třinec map poster reflects this industrial and mountain character. The dense geometry of the works, the housing estates built for its workers, the river corridor and the forested slopes produce a composition with strong contrasts, where heavy industry and landscape meet within a few hundred metres of each other.

Olza river
The river runs north through the town, a thin, steady line that the railway and main roads follow closely.
Beskid slopes
To the east and south the streets thin out as the land rises toward the Beskids, leaving the edges of the map open and green.
