The map
Uwajima Map Poster & Print
Uwajima lies on the western coast of Shikoku, where steep, wooded mountains drop straight into the Uwa Sea. The coastline is a ria, drowned valleys that form long branching inlets. On a map the city fills the only flat ground available: a small plain at the head of a bay, with streets running up into narrow valleys and along the shore.
At the centre stands Uwajima Castle, whose keep is one of the dozen in Japan that survive in their original form. It crowns a forested hill in the middle of town, and on a map that hill appears as a clear green island circled by streets. The sheltered bays around the city are also known for pearl and fish farming.
An Uwajima map poster captures that dense, contained shape: the castle hill at the centre, the harbour and quays, and the coastline breaking into fingers of land and water. It is one of those places where the geography is plain to see, and the paper shows the mountains and the sea in hard contact.

Ria coastline
Inlets and headlands branch in every direction around the harbour. Their jagged, irregular edges are among the most striking coastal forms in Shikoku.
Valley streets
The city pushes into several narrow valleys between steep hills, so the street pattern tapers into thin strips that reach inland from the bay.

Why Uwajima
A map that means something
A map of Uwajima suits anyone who has travelled the Shikoku coast or has family ties to Ehime. It shows a town shaped almost entirely by its terrain, which gives it more character than an ordinary street plan.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with the year of a visit, and choose from five styles. Blueprint suits the sea inlets, and Sand gives a warmer tone. Six print sizes are included as 300 DPI PNG and print-ready PDF, with no watermark.
