The map
Villiappally Map Poster & Print
Villiappally is a village panchayat in Kozhikode district, a short distance inland from the coastal town of Vadakara. Like much of northern Kerala, it has no sharp urban core. Houses are spread across the land in a continuous, low-density pattern, each set in its own compound of coconut palms, and the map shows a fine web of lanes rather than a grid.
Low hills, paddy fields and small watercourses break this web into irregular pieces. Roads follow the higher ground, while the wetter lowlands stay open, so on paper the settlement looks like a lace of lines with occasional blank patches where fields and ponds sit. It is a typical Malabar landscape, shaped by heavy monsoon rain and centuries of dense rural living.
A Villiappally map poster suits people from the area who now live in the Gulf, in other parts of India or abroad, and who know these lanes by heart. Printed in black and white, the image is abstract enough to be decorative, yet every junction still means something to someone who grew up there.

Paddy lowlands
Open, low-lying fields interrupt the housing and appear as calm, empty shapes, giving the poster its rhythm of dense and quiet areas.
Link to Vadakara
Main roads lead west toward Vadakara and the coast, tying this inland settlement to the market town and the railway along the shore.

Why Villiappally
A map that means something
Kerala's diaspora carries a strong attachment to home villages, and this map turns Villiappally into something that can hang in a flat in Dubai or a house in London. It is personal, specific and quietly graphic.
Write a family house name in the title, add a date in the subtitle, and adjust the coordinates line. Five styles are available, and the $9 digital files come without a watermark, in six sizes ready for any local print shop.
