Valley-floor town
The streets fill a narrow stretch of level ground, so the town reads as a long, dense shape between empty slopes.

The map
Wanmu Map Poster & Print
Wanmu lies in the mountainous southeast of Chongqing Municipality, a region of steep ridges, deep valleys and winding rivers near the borders of Guizhou and Hunan. On the map, the town is a narrow strip of streets on the valley floor, with little room to spread sideways.
The terrain sets every line. Roads follow the valley and switch back up the slopes, and the built-up area thins quickly as the ground rises. Watercourses thread through the low land, and scattered hamlets lie along the mountain tracks away from the centre.
This part of Chongqing is home to Tujia and Miao communities, and its towns are far from the big city on the Yangtze. A Wanmu map poster shows the character of the place: a settlement fitted into a narrow valley and shaped by the mountains.

Switchback roads
Roads leave the valley in bends and loops as they climb. They add expressive curves to the edges of the poster.
Mountain watercourses
Streams and rivers wind through the low ground and follow the gaps between ridges. They trace the shape of the terrain.

Why Wanmu
A map that means something
Mountain towns make striking maps because the land decides where the lines go. For people who grew up in southeastern Chongqing and moved away for work or study, Wanmu's valley is an honest picture of home.
You can edit the title, subtitle and coordinates line, and even add the town's name in Chinese characters. Choose Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
