Ko e mape
Allada lies on a plateau in southern Benin, north of Cotonou, on the main highway that runs from the coast into the interior. It was the seat of the kingdom of Allada, a powerful state on this coast before the rise of Dahomey, and according to tradition the royal lineages of Dahomey and Porto-Novo traced their origins here.
The highway divides the town and forms the most prominent line on the map, with commercial activity gathered along it. Away from the road, streets become a looser network of lanes connecting compounds, markets and fields. The plateau is fairly level, so the pattern spreads evenly outward and fades gradually into farmland at the edges.
Allada is also often linked with Toussaint Louverture, whose father is said to have come from the region. An Allada map poster brings together a place of deep historical significance and a very readable modern layout, making it a meaningful print for people with roots in southern Benin and for anyone interested in the history of this coast.
The road north from Cotonou passes straight through the town, organising the map and linking Allada with the coast and the interior.
Smaller streets and paths lead to family compounds in irregular clusters, giving the poster a detailed, organic texture on both sides of the road.
The flat plateau lets the town spread evenly, so the outer map fades gradually into farmland rather than ending at a river or hill.

For families from Allada, and for the wider diaspora connected to this coast, a map of the town can be a quiet statement of origin. The title, subtitle and coordinates line can carry a family name, a date or a few words that matter to you.
Sand and Paper suit the warm tones of southern Benin, while Noir, Blueprint and Classic black & white offer stronger contrast. The digital files cost $9 and include six sizes as 300 DPI PNG and print-ready PDF, and printed posters ship from partners in more than 30 countries.
