Ko e mape
Árgos lies in the northeastern Peloponnese, at the edge of the fertile Argolic plain, a short distance inland from the Gulf of Argolis and the port town of Nafplio. From above, the modern town spreads outward from its centre across flat land, while the steep hill of Larissa, crowned by a medieval castle, rises abruptly on its western side.
Árgos is among the oldest continuously inhabited towns in Europe, and its ancient past is visible in the city itself. The large ancient theatre, cut into the slope of a hill, remains one of the most notable in Greece. On a map, the archaeological areas appear as open spaces within the otherwise dense street pattern.
An Árgos map poster brings together these layers. The modern grid spreads across the plain, the Larissa hill interrupts it with curving roads and slopes, and the open archaeological areas give the design breathing space. The result is a quiet, balanced portrait of a place shaped by thousands of years of settlement.
The steep hill topped by the Larissa castle rises on the town's western edge, and its winding approach roads contrast sharply with the flat grid below.
The large theatre, carved into a hillside, sits at the edge of the modern town and appears on the map as part of an open archaeological area.
The town spreads across flat, fertile land, with roads and field patterns extending toward Nafplio and the coast, giving the composition wide, open edges.
