Tight, irregular lanes gather at the heart of the town. They form the densest part of the map and contrast clearly with the planned colonies around them.

Barnāla lies in the Malwa region of Punjab, on a wide, flat agricultural plain. From above, the town is a compact cluster of streets surrounded by rectangular fields that stretch in every direction. A railway line crosses the settlement, and several roads radiate from the centre towards the neighbouring towns of the region.
The older part of town has narrow, irregular lanes and closely packed buildings, while newer colonies on the edges follow a more regular layout. Barnāla became the headquarters of its own district in 2006, and administrative buildings, markets and grain facilities reflect its role as a local centre for surrounding villages.
A Barnāla map poster works through contrast. The dense knot of the old town sits inside a quiet grid of field boundaries, and the straight lines of the railway and highways bring the composition together. It is a modest, honest picture of a working Punjab town, familiar to anyone who grew up there.
Tight, irregular lanes gather at the heart of the town. They form the densest part of the map and contrast clearly with the planned colonies around them.
The railway cuts across the town in a long straight stroke, dividing neighbourhoods and giving the map a strong directional line.
The farmland around Barnāla is divided into regular plots, whose faint boundaries surround the town in a calm, even pattern.
