Bertioga stretches along the northern coast of São Paulo state, between the ocean and the forested wall of the Serra do Mar. On a map it is mostly a thin, elongated band of settlement following the beaches, with rivers and mangroves behind it and the dark mass of the mountains closing in. At its southern end, the Bertioga Channel separates it from Santo Amaro island and Guarujá.
Near the mouth of the channel stands the Forte São João, one of the oldest fortifications in Brazil, built in the colonial period to guard the passage. Today the town is better known as a beach destination for residents of São Paulo, with planned neighbourhoods such as Riviera de São Lourenço set behind the long, gently curving sand.
A Bertioga map poster traces that coastline with great clarity: the smooth arc of the beaches, the winding channel and river inlets, and the streets pressed between shore and slope. In a monochrome style, the Atlantic on one side and the forest on the other frame the town in a strong, horizontal composition.
A narrow tidal waterway divides the mainland from Santo Amaro island, curving through mangroves and crossed by a ferry near the old fort.
Kilometres of sand run north-east from the channel, a clean coastal line with neighbourhoods laid out in parallel strips behind it.
Inland, the slopes of the Atlantic Forest rise steeply, leaving streets and rivers confined to a narrow coastal plain between the mountains and the sea.

Ko e ha Bertioga
Bertioga is where many families from São Paulo spend holidays and weekends, and a map of it holds summers, beach houses and long drives down the mountain. It suits a coastal home as well as a city flat that misses the sea.
You can add your own title and subtitle, perhaps the name of a beach house, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Each $9 download includes six print sizes as 300 DPI PNG and print-ready PDF files.
