Bishopbriggs lies in East Dunbartonshire, just beyond Glasgow's northern boundary. The map shows a largely residential town: post-war and later estates of curving streets, a main road running north from the city through its centre, and the railway on the Glasgow to Edinburgh line with its own station.
To the north, the Forth and Clyde Canal traces a slow curve past the edge of town near Cadder, and beyond it the land drops toward the flat, open Kelvin valley. Parks, playing fields and golf courses break up the housing, giving the town a fairly open, green texture.
